On May 9, KST, Starship Entertainment posted a statement addressing safety concerns for IVE member Wonyoung.
In the statement, the agency notified fans that they detected a post threatening Wonyoung’s safety on an online community on May 8, KST. The post’s author specified the date and time of the crime they planned to commit against the idol.
Given the severity of the threat, Starship reported it to the National Police Agency, and they have begun a probe to find the person behind the post. The agency has also asked for personal protection of Wonyoung from the police.
Additionally, Starship mentioned that they are strengthening their private security team and monitoring their idols’ usual movement routes, offices, and accommodations. The company also plans to take strict legal action against the post’s author once their identity is revealed.
The agency, however, did not specify what threats have been made against the singer. Though the notice was aimed at reassuring fans about Wonyoung’s safety, they couldn’t help but feel anxious for her.
