They don’t get much bigger than this.
This year’s Elite Eight features a litany of big names. None are bigger than Iowa’s Caitlin Clark and LSU’s Angel Reese. The two have been cast as perfect foils ever since rocketing themselves into the national consciousness.
Last season, the pair faced off on the biggest stage of them all, jostling back-and-forth under the glimmer of the national championship trophy. Reese emerged victorious in that game, but Clark will get her chance to avenge Iowa’s loss Monday night.
This year isn’t entirely identical. But the clash between the Hawkeyes and Tigers will undoubtedly captivate the masses, even if it is only for a spot in the Final Four.
Clark has been seismic as ever, dropping 27, 32 and 29 points in the past three rounds to take Iowa to higher planes.

She’s not alone, though. Hannah Stuelke has been a force in the pick-and-roll, forming quite the battery with Clark. Lisa Bluder’s squad has also surrounded its supernova with a wide assortment of three-point specialist, including Gabbie Marshall and Kate Martin. That should only open up the floor for Clark to work her magic.
LSU, meanwhile, endured a contentious campaign. Controversy trailed the program like a shadow, with Reese, point guard Hailey Van Lith and head coach Kim Mulkey all grabbing headlines.
Nevertheless, the Tigers are back on the prowl. A national title is in their sights. And a victory over the Hawkeyes would got a long way in affirming their status as one of the nation’s most dangerous teams.
