North Carolina swept the season series against FSU, winning by eight and seven points, respectively. The Tar Heels have surged to No. 4 in the AP Top 25 rankings.
Florida State Seminoles betting news and analysis
The Seminoles rode the hot hand of Jamir Watkins, who scored a career-high 34 points in the win over Virginia Tech. Watkins also established a new FSU record for most points scored in an ACC Tournament game.
The Seminoles scored 25 points off 13 turnovers against the Hokies. Florida State also enjoyed a decisive 34-25 rebounding advantage. Lastly, the ‘Noles converted on 25 of 30 free-throw attempts.
If they can replicate that success in all three areas, FSU has a shot to pull another upset against UNC. Florida State was fairly competitive in both games against North Carolina earlier this year, but it hasn’t defeated the Tar Heels since the 2020-21 season.
The Seminoles only have three players scoring in double figures:
- Jamir Watkins (15.1 ppg)
- Darin Green Jr. (11.8 ppg)
- Primo Spears (10.3 ppg)
FSU will need another gritty defensive effort against UNC, which averages 81.6 points per game. That’s good for No. 22 in the nation. The ‘Noles rank 109th at 76.5 points per contest.

North Carolina Tar Heels betting news and analysis
The Tar Heels have enjoyed a full four-day respite since beating Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday. UNC captured the ACC regular season championship with that victory.
UNC is thriving with a deep cast of supporting players that showed their mettle in the win at Duke. Notre Dame transfer Cormac Ryan lit the Blue Devils up with a game-high 31 points to steal the headlines, but forward Jae’Lyn Withers and guard Seth Trimble came up clutch with a combined 12 points and 12 rebounds.
UNC’s top two players — RJ Davis and Armando Bacot — were both limited to nine points. That’s usually a recipe for defeat, but Stanford transfer Harrison Ingram helped offset that with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Davis is reminiscent in many ways to former UNC guard Joel Berry, who helped North Carolina win the 2016 ACC Tournament the last time it was played in Washington, DC. The ACC’s leading scorer averages 21.1 points per game, which ranks Davis 17th in the nation.
Freshman guard Elliot Cadeau came up big with 16 points and six assists in the most recent win over Florida State. He’s usually more of a facilitator than a scorer, but Cadeau is capable of both on any given night.
The Tar Heels enter the ACC Tournament having not lost a game since Feb. 13 at Syracuse. UNC appears to be peaking at the right time under head coach Hubert Davis.
Given North Carolina’s rise to No. 4 in the national rankings, a No. 1 seed might be in play for March Madness. Especially if UNC first wins the ACC Tournament.
Florida State vs. North Carolina prediction ATS
It’d be a huge surprise to see the Seminoles get an outright win here, but this is a lot of points for UNC to be laying. Too many in our estimation.
