Jake Paul fought two legitimate boxers in 2023. The YouTuber has looked to prove he is serious about boxing, regardless of their placement in the sport. He faces his next challenge in Ryan Bourland on March 2.
The fight is in Puerto Rico, the home of Paul and Amanda Serrano, the latter competing in the main event, defending the unified featherweight titles.
Paul is 8-1 since turning pro in 2020. “The Problem Child” has five wins via knockout, though the wins have gotten people to question his skills since the contests were against former MMA fighters. Understanding detractors may have a fair point, Paul fought Tommy Fury and Andre August last year, going 1-1 against legitimate but not otherworldly competition.
Bourland is a former Golden Gloves champion who turned pro in 2013. The Californian is on a three-fight win streak, his last outing a TKO win in September 2022 against Santario Martin. An ‘Average Joe’, Bourland has worked in oil fields, and the 35-year-old is ready to make the most of the opportunity.

“I am representing all the hard-working folks in America, and I am going to represent us well on March 2… I always knew we were going to fight,” Bourland said via Boxing Scene. “I just knew given my weight, and my record, that it would happen. I just never knew when. I reached out, and it happened sooner than I thought.”
