The White Sox are coming off a 101-loss 2023 season following a promising 81-81 2022 campaign that had many thinking the team could make the jump into contention. Instead, the Sox didn’t start the season hot and eventually acted as sellers. The end of the year marked a time of reflection, and the hope is change comes with it.
“Frustrating, educational, somewhat embarrassed,” manager Pedro Grifol said about the season via The Chicago Tribune. “But hungry and committed to get it right.”
It is officially a new era for the White Sox, with general manager Rick Hahn and executive vice president Kenny Williams, both around since the start of the 2010s, getting let go. The team also added players like Mike Soroka, Max Stassi, Dominic Fletcher and more while subtracting Tim Anderson and Liam Hendriks.
With a young and hungry team, there is still time for growth. The White Sox have catching up to do if the team wants to keep pace with the rest of the AL Central. The upcoming spring training schedule will determine if it’s possible.
