Popular fourth-generation group LE SSERAFIM recently made their highly anticipated comeback, releasing their first EP of the new year on February 19, 2024.
Their third EP, EASY, features five new songs and introduced a new side of the 4th-gen group, who is consistently and effortlessly nailing new concepts and sounds.
To celebrate the release of their latest EP, the members sat down for an exclusive interview with Weverse Magazine, and the first member’s interview has just been released.
In her interview, member Sakura discussed being an idol for half of her life, what makes her an ideal idol, her songwriting, what continues to inspire her, and more.
During the interview, she also addressed the insanely viral moment that spawned from leader Chaewon‘s adorable onstage “mistake” while introducing “Fire In The Belly” on the group’s 2023 LE SSERAFIM TOUR FLAME RISES.
As Chaewon introduced their song, she had meant to say, “FEARNOT, be my friend,” but instead, the words became jumbled, and she abruptly stopped speaking.

While her fellow members could be heard laughing with Chaewon, member Sakura earned attention for remaining unfazed when her solo intro dance began right after the unexpected and adorable “mistake.”

Sakura addressed the moment in her Weverse Magazine interview and revealed her switch was already “on” for the performance.
She was determined to deliver a stellar performance of the song for FEARNOTs, leading her to complete her dance without reacting to Chaewon.
I already had my ‘switch on,’ so I couldn’t laugh. We hadn’t shown that song to FEARNOT much at that point, so all I had on my mind was putting on a good performance.

Sakura admitted that she was more focused on performing “with [her] eyes,” as the performance director had advised her to do, and revealed that, otherwise, she generally has “pretty good concentration” and had even once knit for five hours straight on a flight.
Our performance director said I had to show my solo dance “with my eyes,” and that’s all I could think about. I’ve always had pretty good concentration. I was able to do nothing but knit for five hours straight on the flight to the US without losing my focus.

But Sakura also decided after that moment to focus more on the group during her performances and lean into her fellow members, not only relying on focusing “solely” on herself on stage.
It’s actually harder for me to turn the “switch off” and chill. I’m trying not to focus solely on myself when we’re on stage now. Sometimes, to get in step with the others, I need to feel their rhythm, listen to the sounds around us, or get a feel for what’s in the air.
