They’re back. The Chiefs advance to their fourth Super Bowl in five years with a 17-10 defeat of the Ravens in the AFC championship.
It was all Kansas City in the first half. Patrick Mahomes was perfect in the opening quarter, going 10 for 10 and 86 yards. He connected with Travis Kelce for a touchdown and more to make history as the tight end passed Jerry Rice for the most catches in NFL postseason history with his 152nd.
The Baltimore defense picked it up for the second half and were perfect, but it could only do so much. Lamar Jackson continued to struggle through the air, though he did manage to catch his own pass.
The Ravens became the unlucky ones at the turn of the third quarter. Rookie Zay Flowers, who scored their only touchdown, looked to add another. He caught Jackson’s deep pass for a 54-yard advantage but was called for taunting, putting Baltimore 15 yards back. A few plays later, Flowers was given the chance for a touchdown yet again. It was worse. The ball was punched out by L’Jarius Sneed at the goal line, negating any score.
Goal line turnovers only continued. The next possession, Jackson was intercepted by Deon Bush in the end zone to take another six points away from Baltimore. It’s a crushing loss for a team with untimely mistakes.
Jackson finished with 272 passing yards and 54 on the field, but it wasn’t just the disconnect that cost the Ravens. The team finished with eight penalties and personal fouls that cost them 95 yards. The Chiefs had three.
Mahomes finished with 241 yards and one touchdown, while Isiah Pacheco added another.
Speaking of Kansas City, talk about karma. The guys on the Chiefs have shown why they’re the defending Super Bowl champions all postseason, and on the road in Baltimore was no exception.
Who they’ll face in the Super Bowl is yet to be decided, but one thing’s for sure. They won’t want to face the red-hot Chiefs.

Kadarius Toney had his first child tonight. A baby girl. That’s where the personal part of his designation came from. He’s also dealing with a hip injury that is keeping him out tomorrow. https://t.co/XxkqM7qI6s
