The defending NFC champion Eagles will begin their path back to the Super Bowl on the road.
In the final week of the NFL season, the Buccaneers claimed the NFC South title to earn the right to host a home playoff game during wild-card weekend. Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans and Tampa Bay will face off against Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith and Philadelphia as a result, with the Eagles looking to bounce back from a poor end to the season.
Philadelphia started the year 8-1, looking like a lock to win the NFC East. It picked up two huge wins over the Chiefs and Bills out of its bye week, but it all went downhill from there. The Eagles dropped five of their last six games, surrendering the division crown to the Cowboys.
In the final game of the regular season, both Hurts (finger) and A.J. Brown (knee) suffered injuries that clouded their availability for the Monday night playoff showdown against the Buccaneers. Hurts will play, but his top receiver won’t.
On the other hand, Tampa Bay enters this contest as winners of five of its last six games, looking to knock off last year’s NFC Super Bowl representative.
