A popular Japanese actor, Miura Kota, has left fans in shock after revealing his dramatic career change.
Miura appeared as a guest on Fuji TV’s late-night program, Bee The TOP, on April 28 and opened up about going from acting to a cleaning company. The actor said he retired from the industry at just 40 years old because the job was taking a significant toll on him mentally. The distress grew further when he stopped getting drama roles due to COVID-29 in 2020.
Miura started working part-time jobs to make ends meet. But then he accidentally came across a cleaning company run by comedian-turned-businessman Irie Shinya. In June 2021, Miura sent a message to Irie and then interviewed with the company. In July 2021, he retired from the entertainment industry and joined Peekaboo, Irie’s cleaning company.
While Japanese netizens were upset at the fact that Miura retired so early, they were also impressed that a public figure like him could boldly make such a career shift and be proud of it.
Meanwhile, Miura is best known for his dramas like Bad Guy and Kamen Riders Amazon.
