Netizens were distracted during LE SSERAFIM‘s return to Korea as a controversial figure appeared during the live stream.
On April 22, LE SSERAFIM arrived back in Korea after their successful performances at Coachella 2024.
Yet, while netizens waited for the members on the live broadcast, many were surprised to see a small man surrounded by bodyguards.
Netizens quickly realized that the man was the controversial leader of the religious “cult” Shincheonji, Lee Man Hee.
The group has had many controversies, whether it is accusations of exerting influence on politicians and political parties, actively infiltrating other churches to convert other churches’ members, and also links to the breakout of COVID-19 in Korea.
When the post was shared, it amassed over 70,000 views, and the comments were a mix of netizens being extremely confused and others finding it funny.
- Antititi Christ (play on the lyrics of “Anti-Fragile”)
- Did you ride on the same airplane?ㅋㅋㅋ
- He’s a criminal, but he’s able to leave the country??
- Damn LOL
- Wow, those bodyguards. Are they personal bodyguards for the cult leader? Wow…
- At first, only the guards next to him caught my eye, so I was like, what’s going on? But ah hahaha, seriously, how can they believe in something like that so blindly…
- Hahahahahahahaha.
- This is hilarious.
- Can that guy even leave the country?
While LE SSERAFIM deserved the warm homecoming from fans, it seems like Korean netizens were distracted by the appearance of the leader.
