A popular influencer changed her appearance ever so slightly and fans couldn’t help but notice.
Li Zi Qi is a famous vlogger in China who carved a niche for herself making cooking and handicraft videos. Filmed in her hometown in Pingwu Country, Southwest China, viewers loved how calming and creative her content was. The videos were doubly enjoyable as Li Zi Qi, renowned for her beauty, was the star of each scene.
She raked in over 18 million subscribers on YouTube, with some videos reaching over 80 million views. She also had over 26 million followers on Sina Weibo which is used primarily by Chinese audiences.
Li Zi Qi paused her vlogging career in July 2021 due to a legal dispute with partner firm Hangzhou Weinian. She explained in an interview with CCTV that she “does not want to see her intellectual property over-commercialized.”
Finally, in September 2023, China Financial and Economic News posted a video featuring the vlogger. It was her first time appearing in front of the camera since her hiatus began two years prior. She was standing in an orchard greeting her fans, promising to once again deliver “more quality content” about China.
In the future, I will insist on producing more quality content on my ways to tell Chinese farming culture and rural stories.

Over 29,000 Douyin users commented on Li’s return in just a few hours. Besides those overjoyed at her return, there were a number of netizens who couldn’t help but focus on her changed appearance.
They commented that her eyes and chin in particular changed since her last public appearance.
- “Her eyes and chin are different from before, and it appears her face has been injected with hyaluronic acid. She eventually became an internet celebrity,”
- “Yes, her eyes are bigger.”
Many couldn’t understand why such a beautiful girl wanted to alter her facial features, with one saying, “Why does she have to change? She looked beautiful too.”
At the same time, others did not care about the possibility that she went under the knife.
She is not a beauty influencer. As long as her new content is great, that would be fine.
