Periods or monthly menstrual cycles are something every woman must go through, including K-Pop idols.
Not only can an idol not take a break whenever she wants, even when she’s suffering from cramping, but her period isn’t always taken into account when styled. If the group has a particular concept that includes wearing white, she will have to wear white no matter what.
So, recently, former SECRET NUMBER member Denise shared a storytime while doing her makeup. Every girl’s fear happened to her.
Denise set the scene. She explained that the group was promoting on music shows. After their performance, they had some downtime to nap before returning to find out that week’s winner.
Everyone was exhausted, so obviously, any chance we got, we were sleeping, and one time after we had done our performance, and we were waiting for the ending shot where they announced who won that week, so I was knocked out on this couch, absolutely just gone.

She revealed that she was styled in a white skirt that day, and it also just so happened to be while she was on her period. So, when she woke up to get ready to return to the stage, she stood up to her stylist’s horror.
That day I was wearing a white skirt you kind of might know where this going, of course, I was wearing white when I was on my lady time of the month. After I took that nap which was for probably like an hour or so, I was getting up to get my hair and makeup retouched.

Denise heard the stylist gasp as she walked. Suddenly, the stylist hugged her from behind.
She comes, and she just like hugs me from the back to which I was kind of like… Oh, you know, cute. But then she goes, ‘Denise, let’s go to the bathroom.’

Her stylist recommended they visit the bathroom together. When Denise looked in the mirror, she realized what had happened. She bled through her skirt.
So, we go into the bathroom, and all of a sudden she goes, ‘Oh my gosh,’ and so I turn around, and low and behold, in the mirror, it’s just there is a fat-ss red dot … It was pretty bad.

Denise’s stylist enlisted help from the head stylist, who took control of the situation. Rather than switch out Denise’s skirt, they thoroughly cleaned and dried it on the spot in the bathroom.
She is basically like a commander at this point. She’s like, ‘Cold water, soap, someone grab a hair dryer, let’s go, chop-chop!’ Skirt’s off, they’re scrubbing, they’re doing all that, I’m standing on the side being like, ‘I’m so sorry!’
— Denise
The stylists successfully got the stain out, and Denise made it out on stage on time. Looking back, Denise realized it didn’t have to be as stressful a situation as it was, but due to the lack of sleep, there was a lot of stress and tension.
All in all, they did get the stain out, luckily and then we made it in time for the stage. We were so tired, just very high tension, high stakes, which in hindsight like it kind of is, but also it really isn’t. Honestly, we were pretty new in the scene at that point, and they were not gonna put us in the front, they’re probably gonna put us in the back. No one’s gonna see me from the back at that point.
