Netflix‘s new K-Drama, Chicken Nugget, based on Park Ji Dok‘s Webtoon Dak Gang Geong (Sweet & Sour Chicken), premiered with all ten episodes over the weekend. It stars Kim Yoo Jung (also known as Kim You Jung, who previously starred in My Demon, The 8th Night, and 20th Century Girl) as Choi Min Ah, Ryu Seung Ryong (Moving, Kingdom, and Miracle in Cell No. 7) as Choi Sun Man, and Ahn Jae Hong (Kingdom, Be Melodramatic, and Fight For My Way) as Ko Baek Joong.
The series revolves around Choi Min Ah, who transforms into fried chicken due to a mistaken usage of a fatigue-relief machine. Her father, Choi Sun Man, and intern Go Baek Jung join forces to reverse the transformation, uncovering dark secrets along the way.
Until its premiere, ASTRO‘s Cha Eunwoo (also stylized Cha Eun Woo) was rumored to join the Chicken Nugget cast. Instead, another popular idol-actor, GOT7‘s Jinyoung, made a cameo appearance!

Although Eunwoo didn’t make a cameo as fans had hoped, he did receive a shoutout. Ko Baek Joong attempted to change his appearance by going into the mysterious machine and shouting, “Cha Eunwoo,” with no luck. This is also straight out of the Webtoon!
‘i know it was too much to ask, but isn’t that the point of thing?’
lmao so funny 😭 he failed attempts at change into cha eunwoo 😂😂#ChickenNugget #AhnJaeHongpic.twitter.com/jJ3RtLxyHw

BTS also received a shoutout. In a fight sequence, the aliens attempted to fight with their knowledge of the most dangerous things known to man. Baek Jung (Kim Tae Hoon) thought of BTS because no one dares to “mess with BTS!” Baek Jung did some BTS choreography instead of throwing punches.
No one on Earth can mess with BTS.

Later, after discovering that Baek Jung and the rest of Baekjung Chicken Nuggets staff were aliens, he was asked many questions. One was regarding the Big Bang Theory, how/where the Big Bang started, etc. He stoicly responded, “Probably at YG Entertainment,” in reference to the K-Pop group BIGBANG.
Another YG Entertainment-founded group was given a shoutout, too. Near the end of the series, when Yoo Tae Man (Jung Seung Gil) grew old but maintained the same face from his youth, it was remarked that even the BLACKPINK members treated him like a “nephew” despite their similar ages.
Additionally, former Busker Busker member Jang Beom June‘s OST “Your Shampoo Scent In The Flowers” was sung as K-Drama Be Melodramatic was referenced.

Previously, the Chicken Nugget stars paid homage to IU and BTS V‘s “Love wins all” photoshoot. They imitated the singers’ poses when promoting their new show.
