SSQ Entertainment (formerly known as NV Entertainment), home to Woo!Ah!, recently debuted its first K-Pop boy group, DXMON, on January 17, 2024, after they dropped a pre-release track on January 1.
Before their official debut, the six members, Minjae, Hee, Seita, Rex, Jo, and TK, had already garnered a fan base through their trainee vlogs.
After revealing their first concept photos for their debut, netizens were surprised by two of the members’ eccentric hairstyles. Maknae Jo debuted with spiky red hair reminiscent of TVXQ‘s iconic “Tri-Angle” hair
Member Hee debuted with bright blue hair, which was styled into horns for their “Burn Up” pre-debut single album MV teaser.
Recently, DXMON’s Jo filmed with popular hairstylist Kiu and revealed the hard work that goes into maintaining his spiked hairstyle.
Jo revealed that the hairstyle takes an hour and a half to do, especially when he was just beginning to style his hair into liberty spikes.
More recently, he has been able to shorten the length of time it takes to 50 minutes, which Kiu noted was still a long time.
As for whose idea the liberty spikes were, Jo shared that the company’s CEO decided the hairstyle would be good for the group’s maknae to try.
Jo playfully admitted that he thought the hairstyle would look better on him than the other members. After trying it for the first time, the company liked it, cementing the liberty spikes as his signature look.
