Manchester United have been pretty proactive with their summer transfer business, with the signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo to improve their attack.
The Red Devils are now in the market to sign a defensive midfielder and an outright striker to play up front.
After more or less improving the attack, Ruben Amorim is keen to reinforce the midfield, and therefore, United are monitoring a few players who can replace Casemiro.
As per reports via Calciomercato, Manchester United have already submitted a €40m ($ 43m) offer for Sporting midfielder Morten Hjulmand.
Amorim is a big admirer of the Danish midfielder from their time at Sporting CP and will look to convince him to reunite with Amorim at Old Trafford.
However, United’s pursuit of Hjulmand will not be easy, as Juventus are also interested in the 26-year-old midfielder, but they are struggling to meet Sporting’s €50m ($ 54m) valuation.

Apart from Hjulmand, United are also linked with Valencia’s Javi Guerra, who is another young and talented Spanish midfielder who has reportedly rejected contract renewal after hearing United talks.
Why are Man United pushing for Sporting’s Hjulmand?
Hjulmand is easily one of the most wanted midfielders in Europe at the moment for his all-around capabilities.
His current contract with Sporting runs until 2028, and they had inserted an €80m (£68m/$ 87m) release clause when he moved in 2023 from Lecce.
However, now Sporting are ready to negotiate with clubs willing to offer close to €50m ($ 54m).
United are looking keen to sign the 26-year-old, who is known for his ball-winning abilities, passing, distance shooting and leadership skills.
He could be the perfect fit for Amorim’s system, as proven in Sporting and considering he is currently the captain of the Lisbon outfit, he would be a perfect fit in United’s midfield.
A move to the Premier League will be a big milestone in Hjulmand’s career, as he has featured in Serie B for Lecce a few seasons ago.
His career graph has been exceptional in the last few years, and he has improved the Sporting side since moving from Italy, and there’s no reason why he couldn’t do it again.
Hjulmand featured in 37 matches for Sporting last season across all competitions, scoring two goals and as many assists from deep midfield.
Interestingly, he is hitting his prime at the moment, as he was named the Danish Player of the year in 2024, and he is again a prime contender to win it again this year.
