VCHA‘s KG recently filed a lawsuit against JYP Entertainment. She called the company out for abuse and mistreatment, filing termination with them.

In particular, she called out their restrictions on the members’ diet. According to KG, the members were pressured to maintain an extreme level of thinness, and often only fed small salads. On multiple occasions, the members were denied meals and even instructed not to eat by staff. They would monitor the girls’ meals and kitchen in the dorm.
Through KG’s exposé, fans have begun to highlight JYP Entertainment’s severe restriction culture when it comes to food. The company once pressured TWICE‘s Momo to go on an intense diet before allowing her to debut.
“When I was a trainee… I was told I had to lose 7kg no matter what. That was the only way to be on the showcase. There was a D-day.”
— Momo
She ate ice for a week to lose the weight. Fans wondered if this led to many idols continuing to show signs of eating disorders even after debut.
We need to talk about how bad the ED culture is at JYP. I’m seriously concerned for all their idols. https://t.co/B10dYHwrN3 pic.twitter.com/wbsbThzQG5

Stray Kids‘ Felix commented that he needed to diet before their concert. He later clarified that the part about the bones was a joke.
ITZY‘s Chaeryeong also talked about diet and losing weight, wanting a pill to make her appetite supressed.
Yuna also displayed similar signs of an eating disorder.
this reminds when yuna admitted she fixated on her diet bc everything else in her life seemed out of control. this was sneakers-cheshire era btw meaning this was a direct consequence from the backlash https://t.co/pRDf9YtFiY pic.twitter.com/PP5BEBPmfn

While diets are the norm for trainees, fans are worried that JYP Entertainment may be taking things too far.
this is kpop wide and has been evident since day one and poorly concealed if they even bother attempting to hide
it. Ppl have also been saying this for years but kpop stans are highly complacent about the industry. https://t.co/5CO9vCAuE3— Tannies (@springtaekook12) December 8, 2024
Some call out the entire industry, not just JYP Entertainment.
