Building on the success of the debut season, the continuation of ‘Full Speed’ seemed almost inevitable. NASCAR Studios has partnered with Words + Pictures to form “Full Speed Entertainment,” a collaboration aimed at developing a comprehensive suite of racing-focused content, including documentaries, series, special events, studio shows, and podcasts.
Connor Schell, CEO, and founder of Words + Pictures, couldn’t contain his excitement about expanding the collaboration. He commented, as quoted by NASCAR.com:
“I couldn’t be more excited to be expanding our partnership with NASCAR with Full Speed Entertainment.
“The first season of Full Speed was a really rewarding project for our company, and it was a thrill to work side-by-side with NASCAR Studios every step of the way. The opportunity to bring audiences more great racing content and collaborate with NASCAR opens a wealth of possibilities we can’t wait to get working on.”
Tim Clark, NASCAR’s Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer, echoed this enthusiasm. Within the early stages of the first season, Clark recognized the potential for a broader collaboration. Clark explained:
“Early into the Full Speed process, I knew we wanted to find more ways to collaborate and capitalize on new opportunities for NASCAR as cultural demand for compelling sports stories continues to grow.
“Words + Pictures is the premier storyteller in the sports content space, and Connor’s team excels in not just generating big ideas and visions but executing them in ways that captivate big audiences.”
The team has entrusted Emmy-winner Tally Hair as the General Manager to oversee the next phase of this collaborative effort, eyeing the impact Season 2 could have if it continues the momentum of its predecessor. With a potential audience expansion akin to the ripple effect seen from ‘Drive to Survive,’ NASCAR’s popularity could surge, especially in markets outside of the US.
Reflecting on the first season, which aired earlier this year with a five-episode run commencing just before the Cup Series Playoffs, the series successfully heightened the sport’s visibility and gave fans a behind the scenes look into the sport. The forthcoming season, though not detailed yet, is anticipated to follow a similar format, stirring speculations of it premiering in January 2025, keeping inline with the previous release schedule.
If NASCAR: Full Speed Season 2 does line up with a January release, fans can expect more updates including a trailer in the coming months.
