Girl group FIFTY FIFTY will be boycotting SBS‘s Inkigayo. They appeared on various music shows in September to promote their new song, “SOS.” The group has performed on M!Countdown, Music Champion, Music Core, and more. It was reported on September 28, 2024, that the group would not be performing on Inkigayo due to the broadcaster’s past faux pas with ATTRAKT.
In August 2023, when FIFTY FIFTY 1.0 was in the midst of their legal battle and feud with ATTRAKT, SBS’s Unanswered Questions aired an episode about it. They were criticized for biased reporting without proper investigations. They also failed to interview key people in the feud, such as The Givers‘ Ahn Sung Il.
Despite SBS taking the episode’s online contents down, they did not issue any apology to ATTRAKT or the CEO Jeon Hong June. As such, he gave a statement on September 28, 2024, to the Korean media.
Artistic talent and an educated upbringing are different things. Unanswered Questions did Jeon Hong June so dirty as a human being. I’m fine without promoting [there]. Name and one’s self-respect is worth more than money at some times.
— Jeon Hong June
Jeon Hong June revealed that SBS tried to arrange a private meeting as a form of apology, but he refused anything less than a public admittance of fault. You can read more about the criticism that the show faced below.
