The Seattle Seahawks and their fans have so much to be encouraged about coming out of their Week 1 win that it’s difficult to know where to begin. On the sidelines head coach Mike Macdonald was the MVP, getting his entire defensive unit to play an exceptional game from beginning to end.
In the booth offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb made some slick halftime adjustments that broke the game open in the third quarter. The Seahawks also showed off their famous depth at wide receiver, with Tyler Lockett answering the bell as DK Metcalf struggled to get going against Pat Surtain.
Best of all, the back end of Seattle’s defense had its most-impressive performance in many years. Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon played tight coverage and tackled far better than they did in 2023. Elsewhere Tre Brown made a couple of key stops, as did Rayshawn Jenkins.
The biggest, brightest shining star of the bunch though was free safety Julian Love, who’s managed to get better every year he’s been in the NFL so far and got his 2024 campaign off to an absolutely sensational start on Sunday.
Here’s Brian Baldinger from NFL Network breaking down number 20’s big game.

For his efforts, Love earned a 93.4 overall grade from Pro Football Focus, which was the highest mark for any safety this week. If he keeps this up, Love should be in the conversation for a first-time first-team All-Pro honor.
