Boston Celtics superstar forward Jaylen Brown said the Celtics are locked in and ready to defend their title this season, per NBC Sports Boston.
“Last year is over, to be honest,” said Brown. “We celebrated, and had a good time. But it’s over with. Now it’s back to work. Now we got the target on our back. Everybody’s trying to come after us and I’m like, ‘come on.'”
The Celtics are the reigning NBA champs, after having a dominant regular season going 68-14, and only losing three games in the playoffs. The Celtics are also predicted to be the best team this year once again, so everyone in the NBA will be gunning for them once again. Their division rivals, the Philadelphia 76ers and the New York Knicks, will be their biggest challenges after both teams upgraded their rosters.
This fuel Brown and the Celtics have to defend their title comes from a couple of things. The first is all the controversy this offseason due to the Olympics, with the benching of Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown being snubbed from the USA Olympic team.
The second is that lots of critics, fans, and players said that the Celtics championship was fraudulent. Now, the C’s are going to come out the gate swinging, proving that it wasn’t the luck of the Irish that helped them win.
