IVE were branded “thieves” by a fan at a recent concert.
IVE are currently in the midst of their world tour. It seems like one fan took the opportunity to share their honest thoughts about IVE at a recent concert, and it wasn’t positive.
When IVE released their track “HEYA” back in May, netizens alleged that the group was “stealing” Chinese culture and accused them of calling it Korean. On forums, fans shared screenshots from the video and put them next to Chinese artwork and inspirations.
On Threads, an OP shared photos of a fan attending one of the IVE shows.
The photos showed two signs being held up at the IVE concert that were seemingly linked to the issue from “HEYA.” The Chinese photo read, “IVE, stop being thieves,” and the Korean sign read, “Stop cultural appropriation.”
