It’s an ACC showdown to kick off the College World Series.
No. 4 North Carolina took down West Virginia in a thrilling two-game set to advance to Omaha, while No. 12 Virginia bludgeoned Kansas State in a sweep to cruise to the College World Series. The ACC foes will each now look to get a win closer to reaching the finals.
These two have already met once before in the regular season in Charlottesville, with the Cavaliers winning 12-11 and 7-2 in Games 1 and 2, but the Tar Heels collecting the win in Game 3 12-7.
Virginia leads all CWS teams with an average of .336 and an on-base percentage of .428, while fitting in behind only Tennessee in slugging percentage at .575 to the Vols’ .613. But North Carolina, armed with one of the nation’s best bullpens, trail only Tennessee (3.83) and Texas A&M (3.94) in team ERA (4.22) and will look to silence Virginia’s loud bats.
