The Philadelphia Phillies are coming off a third straight disappointing end to a season. They were eliminated from World Series contention in the NLDS by the Los Angeles Dodgers, and a huge issue was the offense.
But, there was one player who didn’t perform poorly, and it was third baseman and All-Star Alec Bohm. He had a .333 average in the playoffs and overall was a positive player for the Phillies in 2025.
That hasn’t stopped trade rumors from once again picking up steam. After being involved in trade speculation all offseason, according to Jim Bowden of The Athletic, executives around baseball believe that Bohm could be traded this winter.

Bowden compiled a list of 10 players whom MLB executives believe “could or will be dealt this winter.” Of those players, Bohm was the only Phillies player listed.
“At 29, Bohm could benefit from a change of scenery, and an upgrade at the hot corner would help the Phillies too.” Bowden writes. “With both Alex Bregman and Bo Bichette being viable options in free agency, it would make sense for the Phillies to deal Bohm at this time.”
While the Phillies could try and land one of Bo Bichette or Alex Bregman in the offseason, if they can’t land either, Bohm should still be considered a trade candidate.
He’s heading into the final year of control, and the Phillies could look to ship him off this winter to not only recoup some value but also prepare an upgrade at third base.

In the worst case, if the Phillies can’t land a clear upgrade over Bohm, they could turn to Otto Kemp or even top infield prospect Aidan Miller to be the team’s third baseman of the future.
Bohm hasn’t been bad for the Phillies, hitting .287 in 2025 with a decent .740 OPS, but his lack of pop, combined with mediocre base running and defense, highlight Bohm as a clear player for the Phillies to upgrade from.
With strong free agent options and potential in-house solutions, moving Bohm now makes a lot of sense for the Phillies.
It’s likely to be an offseason full of changes, and Bohm landing on a new team would hardly be a surprise, especially after an offseason of rumors one year ago. He’s had a solid Phillies career, but 2025 might be the final season for Bohm in Philadelphia.
