In a refreshingly candid interview on popular YouTube show Saloon Drip, BLACKPINK‘s Jisoo shared an unexpected insight into her spending habits that’s sure to resonate with gamers worldwide. The K-pop idol revealed that her biggest expense over the past year hasn’t been luxury items or designer clothes — it’s been mobile game in-app purchases.

Jisoo herself revealed the unexpected fact when talking about her downtime activities. The BLACKPINK star pained a picture of someone who mostly enjoys lounging around at home.
I don’t have any [hobbies]. When I rest, I just lie in bed. If the bed gets too warm, I start wondering if I’ve been lying down for too long, so I move to the sofa and lie there instead.

However, the conversation took an interesting turn when she opened up about her gaming habits. What started with a casual game installation after seeing an advertisement quickly turned into a genuine passion, complete with regular in-game purchases. Soon enough, Jisoo saw herself spending more money on the game than anything else this past year.
Recently, I saw an ad for a game and decided to install it, and it was so fun that I ended up spending money on in-game purchases. I spend a lot on them. In fact, the thing I spent the most money on in the past year might be in-game purchases.

For someone who describes herself as generally frugal, this admission was particularly noteworthy.
I don’t shop much, and I’m not the type to spend a lot of money, but I think of it as an investment when it comes to gaming. Just like buying clothes, I spend money on outfits for my game characters.

Seems like global superstars, too, have their own unique ways of unwinding and enjoying their hard-earned success — even if that means splurging on virtual outfits for game characters rather than designer clothes for themselves.
