TV star Park Eun Ji, who debuted in 2005 as MBC‘s weathercaster, has spoken up about her hoobae Oh Yoanna‘s death. Based on a will that the late Oh Yoanna left behind, her passing has been directly linked to the workplace bullying she endured since March 2022.

In an Instagram Stories update, Park Eun Ji shared a screenshot of the first Maeil Shinmun article that revealed Oh Yoanna’s death was a suicide. She wrote that, “As a former MBC weathercaster,” Oh Yoanna’s death weighed heavy on her heart.

Then, as Park Eun Ji grieved for her hoobae, she also hinted that workplace bullying at MBC and among weathercasters is not new. Nudging at her own experience from seven years at MBC, Park Eun Ji asked that a thorough investigation get to the bottom of the problem.

This weighs really heavy on my heart as a former MBC weathercaster. I never got to meet this hoobae of mine, but I hope she is no longer in pain. May she rest in peace.

I, too, have endured seven years of some troubling experiences… I know how frightening it can get, how lonely and painful. I’m so sorry I couldn’t be of any help to you.

The deep-rooted workplace bullying culture really need to end now with a thorough investigation.
