After a slight injury scare in Week 7, Colorado’s dynamic two-way star, Travis Hunter, is expected to return to the field on Saturday.
The Buffaloes came up just short against Kansas State last week, falling 31-28 despite quarterback Shedeur Sanders leading a near-comeback effort. Colorado was also down a few wide receivers, including Hunter, as its injuries mounted up throughout the contest.
Now, Hunter is expected to play in his team’s next matchup, a showdown on the road against Arizona. The Wildcats enter Saturday’s game 3-3 and also on a two-game losing streak after recently falling to Texas Tech and BYU.
Arizona does have a win over a ranked opponent in 2024, as it beat then-No. 10 Utah 23-10 in late September. Behind an offense led by WR Tetairoa McMillan, who ranks third in college football with 742 receiving yards, the Wildcats pose a threat with their dangerous passing game. Quarterback Noah Fifita does have nine interceptions in six games though, a trend the Buffaloes’ defense will certainly be aware of entering Saturday.
For Colorado, which never fails to put together a thrilling performance, it’s looking to bounce back from the loss to Kansas State and improve on its 4-2 record this season. An apparent shoulder injury kept Hunter sidelined for most of last week’s game, but given his impact as both a receiver and cornerback and his status as one of the leading Heisman Trophy candidates, his return to action could be a huge boost for the Buffaloes in Week 8.
