During his recent sit-down, Texas HC Steve Sarkisian played with fire commenting on the Arch Manning-Quinn Ewers controversy.
It took only a single sentence from the Texas head coach to bury all the rumors about a bitter rivalry between Manning and Ewers for the starting QB position.
“I give both those guys a lot of credit for how they’ve handled this. I think Arch is Quinn’s biggest supporter and when Arch was playing I think Quinn was his biggest supporter,” Sarkisian said, clearing the air on the Pat McAfee show. “That’s that’s a really cool sign of a great team and the teammates that they are and the way they support one another.”
Sarkisian also addressed how Ewers dealt with Manning’s fame. “It’s not easy when the backup goes in and he might get a louder ovation than you get as the starter. It just is what it is but I think the acknowledgment of that, understanding the situation, those guys like I said supporting one another has been huge,” Sarkisian said genuinely on the show.
For Sarkisian, Manning is still a developing QB while Ewers is seasoned veteran.

Texas QB Ewers has consistently impressed Sarkisian with his unwavering dedication to giving it his all in each game. The Texas head coach expects the same clutch performance in Saturday’s high-wire showdown vs. Georgia.
“Another thing, I think has been a huge one I know about Quinn: big games come, that guy shows up,” the Texas head coach said, setting his expectations straight on The Pat McAfee Show. “He’s played really good football for us in all the big games we’ve been in. And obviously we’ve got a big one here tomorrow. I expect that guy to show up.”
Ewers has excelled ever since he committed to the Longhorns in 2022. His mind-boggling play against Oklahoma in 2023’s Big 12 title game tallied an astounding 452 yards, his highest passing yardage in a game in 2023, for four touchdowns in an all-time fan favorite.
Texas has been the No. 1 team for the past two weeks and would like to remain there in Week 9. Defeating the Bulldogs would help their case for not only rankings but also playoff contention. This is precisely why QB Ewers and head coach Sarkisian will pay extra attention to detail this Saturday.
