After beating Georgia two weeks ago, No. 7 Alabama barely avoided back-to-back losses as heavy favorites. The Crimson Tide survived a home game against unranked South Carolina 27-25, despite the Gamecocks scoring 19 unanswered in the second and third quarters.
For some teams, losing back-to-back games is disappointing, but in Tuscaloosa, that would be downright unacceptable. Luckily for Alabama, DeBoer’s track record remains strong with the victory.

Kalen DeBoer contract
When Alabama hired Deboer to replace Nick Saban in January, the Crimson Tide gave their head coach an eight-year deal worth $ 10.875 milion a season, according to ESPN. DeBoer has a buyout for the first three years of the contract, worth $ 5 million this year, $ 4 million next year, and $ 3 in 2026. After the first three seasons of the deal, there is no buyout for the final five seasons of the deal.
When did Alabama last lose back-to-back games in one season?
Alabama’s success under Nick Saban means the Crimson Tide have many impressive records and streaks. One of those continued on Saturday, as Alabama has gone 17 years in between back-to-back regular season losses. The Crimson tide last lost two-straight in the regular season in 2007, which was Nick Saban’s first year at the helm.

Saban’s tenure was so dominant that Alabama hasn’t lost more than two games in any season since 2010, when the Crimson Tide went 10-3. That is a good assessment of the type of expectations that DeBoer faces in Tuscaloosa, as he has very little margin for error.
