The Week 6 slate features several big games but one in the AFC West has a chance to be one of the best games of the week.
The Los Angeles Chargers (2-2) will be coming off their bye week and heading to Denver where they will meet a Broncos team that has won three games in a row, much to the surprise of most around the league. Jim Harbaugh vs. Sean Payton will be one of the marquee matchups but have the Chargers done enough since we last saw them to get healthy?
Justin Herbert was far from 100 percent and the team was missing Joe Alt, Rashawn Slater, Joey Bosa and Derwin James (suspension) when they faced the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4.
This will be a tough game to pick, one that could certainly go either way, so let’s check in with some of the NFL experts out there and find out how they see it.
Los Angeles Chargers vs. Denver Broncos Week 6 predictions
Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News: Chargers 23, Broncos 10
Iyer: “There’s one simple key to beating Denver: Running the ball and doing it some more. The Broncos’ defense has been making plays vs. the pass, but teams are trying to throw too much on a fraudulent 3-2 team that gives up a league-high 5.0 yards per carry. Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman will relentlessly run with a rested JK Dobbins and Gus Edwards off a bye, and Jessie Minter will have had time to cook up some confusion for Bo Nix.”
Bill Bender, The Sporting News: Broncos 19, Chargers 16
Bender: “The Chargers are coming off a bye week, which allowed Justin Herbert (ankle) and Joe Alt (knee) to rest injuries. The Broncos have allowed just 11 points per game through a three-game winning streak. Even more important, they have protected rookie quarterback Bo Nix, who has not thrown an interception over the past three weeks. Denver has won five straight home meetings in this series. Will Jim Harbaugh break that streak?”
Jeremy Cluff, Arizona Republic: Broncos 21, Chargers 17
Cluff: “The Broncos have won three straight games and the Chargers have lost two in a row. Denver’s defense will be the difference in this AFC West game.”
