The NFL’s Sunday night matchup in Week 5 features an inter-conference meeting between two famed franchises: the Cowboys and the Steelers.
Entering Week 5 with a 3-1 record behind Justin Fields, who’s remained the starting quarterback over Russell Wilson despite preseason controversy, Pittsburgh will host Dallas seeking to build on its early-season advantage in the AFC North. In a division where all four teams entered the season as playoff contenders, the Steelers have been on top so far — and they are also just four points away from being undefeated after a 27-24 loss to the Colts last week.
Fields, who was traded from the Bears in the offseason as they embarked on their Caleb Williams era, has silenced any doubters early in the 2024 season. So far, he’s thrown for 830 yards and three touchdowns with a 70.6-percent completion percentage, and on the ground, he has 145 rushing yards and three scores. With WR George Pickens and TE Pat Freiermuth as his top weapons in the air, the fourth-year quarterback is seeking to take advantage of a Cowboys roster currently dealing with some injuries.

Heading into this matchup, star LB Micah Parsons has been dealing with an ankle injury, DE DeMarcus Lawrence was placed on IR with a foot injury, and WR Brandin Cooks has a knee injury. For Dallas, this Week 5 game will likely be about Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and the offense doing some heavy lifting, while defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer looks for different players to fill in for Parsons and Lawrence.
The Cowboys are 2-2 entering Sunday’s game, coming off a 20-15 win over the Giants. As the Commanders are beginning to look like a legitimate threat to snatch the NFC East crown this year, Dallas is seeking to overcome its current injuries and build momentum with a win over one of the AFC’s best squads thus far.
