In the span of a day, the trade speculation surrounding Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams has moved to rumor, to now inevitability.
After a few rumors popped up on Monday and Tuesday that hinted the Raiders wide receiver could be traded, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo are now reporting that Adams has requested a trade from Las Vegas.
So, what are the Raiders looking for? Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, general manager Tom Telesco would “consider trading Adams for a second-round pick and additional compensation, although Schefter did not say what that additional compensation is.
CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones adds that it’s believed teams will want to speak with the star wide receiver before trading for him in order to rework his current deal.
The Raiders can likely swing a second-round pick for the veteran wideout, especially if there are multiple teams in the mix for him. However, at 31 years old and with his contract and the entire world knowing that the Raiders have to make a move, getting more than the second-rounder might be difficult.
As far as teams that might be interested are concerned, the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills all make sense, as each are contending teams that could use more help at the position. The Jets in particular are a team to keep an eye on thanks to Adams’ relationship with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
