Seoul Drama Awards has offered an official apology to N.Flying member Yoo Hwesung for a mishap that led to a last-minute cancellation of his performance.
The 2024 Seoul Drama Awards took place on September 25, KST. Artists like NMIXX, ZEROBASEONE, and Hwesung were scheduled to perform at the event. While NMIXX opened the first part and ZEROBASEONE closed it, Hwesung’s performance was canceled unprompted, leading to much public backlash.
The award show released a statement on September 26, KST, offering an explanation and an apology to the artist and his fans. The statement pointed out that the first half of the award ceremony was significantly delayed near its end. Since the program was being broadcast live, they had no choice but to cancel Hwesung’s scheduled congratulatory performance. The organizers seemingly apologized to him in person right after the live broadcast.
We offer our sincerest apologies to the artist who gave his all to prepare a great stage and to the fans and viewers who undoubtedly waited just to see that stage. We conveyed our deepest apologies to the artist immediately after the end of the live broadcast and promised that the same occurrence would not happen again. The organizing committee promises to prepare more thoroughly and make more efforts to prevent something like this from happening again in the future.

After the abrupt cancellation, Hwesung apologized to his fans in a post, stating that he was waiting backstage when he suddenly got the news that his performance would be skipped. Later, his agency also clarified that the performance was canceled due to an on-site delay.
While the apology was necessary, fans are still upset over the disorganization of such a major award show and hoped that this situation could be avoided altogether.
