The Pittsburgh Steelers secured their third victory of the 2024 campaign on Sunday, leaving them as one of the five unbeaten teams in the NFL. And, after a slow start, running back Najee Harris played a big role in the winning effort.
Harris did most of his damage in the second half, which helped to run out the clock. In all, he finished with 18 carries for 70 yards and five catches for 16 yards in what was his most productive showing of 2024.
However, there was some concern about his status moving forward after the running back was spotted wearing a sling on his arm in the locker room after the game. Head coach Mike Tomlin provided an update on the running back on Tuesday, as did an NFL Insider.
Najee Harris injury update
According to NFL Insider Jordan Schultz, Harris is “expected to be fine” and should play in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts. Tomlin also confirmed that Harris will be “ready to rock and roll,” per Mike DeFabo of The Athletic.
The status of Harris’ backfield mate, Jaylen Warren, isn’t as certain, though. Warren was pulled from the Week 3 game due to a knee injury and Tomlin noted that his ability to play this week will be determined by what he can do in practice, Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com reports.
While fantasy football owners had fears of a split between Harris and Warren going into the 2024 campaign, it has been all Harris through three games. Harris has 62 touches to Warren’s 19, and Harris has played 54% of snaps to Warren’s 38%.
If Warren is forced to miss time, Harris could see an uptick in work to the already big workload he’s seen over three games, but chances are it won’t be much, if any at all, as Cordarelle Patterson will likely step into Warren’s role.
