Manchester United’s mixed start to the Premier League season continued with a weekend Premier League 0-0 tie at Crystal Palace.
Erik ten Hag’s side stormed to a 7-0 midweek Carabao Cup win over Barnsley, but their issues in the top-flight remain clear, after just two wins from the opening five games of the campaign.
The Red Devils secured victories against Fulham in the opening round of matches, followed by newly promoted Southampton, in a mixed season start.

Ten Hag’s charges have only scored five goals in those five fixtures, at an average rate of one per game, with five also conceded and just two clean sheets.
Consistency of one attacker scoring regularly is also an issue, with five separate scorers, as Joshua Zirkzee, Amad Diallo, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Matthijs de Ligt all on target.
The main numbers are not particularly inspiring for frustrated United fans and the deeper statistics are even more concerning for ten Hag.
United have created 76 goal scoring chances in Premier League action since the start of last season but with a whopping 67 missed.
That gives them a chance conversion rate of 31.6% with only Everton performing worse from teams still in the Premier League.
Alongside those figures, United have an xG of 66.5%, which places them 9th in that metric, since the first ball was kicked in the 2023/24 campaign.
Next up for United is the start of their UEFA Europa League campaign as they host Dutch side FC Twente on September 25.
