BOYNEXTDOOR went through the harsh K-Pop trainee system just like any other hopeful. This includes weekly check-ins for their weight and physique! The boys were assigned personal training sessions to help build their muscle mass and lower their body fat percentage. For them, it was not so much about their overall weight, but more about building their bodies.
On a recent episode of K-Star Next Door, the boys shared how they pulled a fast one over their trainers back then.
The boys had to measure their InBody every personal training session. To pass muster, Jaehyun and Woonhak searched up how to have better InBody results instantly.
A search result told them to consume an abnormally high level of sodium right before their InBody test. This would artificially lower the fat percentage and raise the skeletal muscle mass on the InBody scales.
Jaehyun and Woonhak would hide packets of ramyun soup power in their pockets. As soon as they got to the gym, they would run to the washroom and begin mixing the powder with water, chugging it.
Taesan hilariously shared how he would see the two shaking bottles of soup vigorously in the bathroom.
According to Leehan, on days where Jaehyun’s results were teetering on the edge, he would consume the soup, then begin pumping his muscles by doing pushups in the changing room. By doing that, one’s muscle mass would immediately inflate around three to four kilograms on the InBody scale.
You can hate the game, but not the players! They simply did what they could to survive the harsh environment. You can watch the full episode below.
