Aaron Rodgers’ 2024 season is already out to a better start than his 2023.
The Jets quarterback is making his first start for the Jets since tearing his Achilles in the 2023 opener. After New York acquired him from Green Bay in an offseason trade last year, he lasted just four plays before suffering the season-ending injury. Now, the 40-year-old quarterback is healthy, looking to lead the Jets for a full season.
If Rodgers can return to his elite form before the injury, New York should be in the running to emerge out of the AFC. He has a Super Bowl ring, four MVPs and four First-team All-Pro nods, and is regarded as one of the most talented quarterbacks to ever suit up on the gridiron.
Surrounded by young weapons on offense in wide receiver Garrett Wilson and running back Breece Hall, the Jets have their eyes on their first playoff berth since 2010. However, New York is wasting no time putting their 2024 squad to the test with a prime-time contest against the defending NFC champions to kick off the season.
Rodgers and Co. have the tall task of facing the 49ers on the road in San Francisco. Kyle Shanahan’s talented team features a lethal offense opposing the Jets, as well as a stout defense led by edge rusher Nick Bosa and linebacker Fred Warner.

Aaron Rodgers highlights vs. 49ers
The Jets’ first two possessions against the 49ers did not go well. New York started the contest with a three-and-out, and that was followed by Hall fumbling on the first play of their second drive.
However, on the Jets’ third drive of the game, the chemistry between Rodgers and Wilson was on point. The QB connected with his star wide receiver four times on the sequence, including two completions on third-and-7 to move the chains.

The Jets ended the drive with their first touchdown on the season, as Hall barreled in for a three-yard touchdown to give the team a 7-3 lead at the time.
While Rodgers and Wilson have had plenty of time to build their relationship off the field, the first half against the 49ers showed just what the two are capable of come game time. It’s clear that the 24-year-old has already earned the trust of the veteran signal-caller.
