The news that Mason Mount is once more facing several weeks out of action with a muscle injury was a big blow to United this week. With Scott McTominay now at Napoli, they suddenly look light on midfield options, particularly as Manuel Ugarte is not yet available following his deadline-day transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
Joshua Zirkzee may therefore get his first start, perhaps alongside Bruno Fernandes in the 4-2-2-2 set-up Ten Hag has favoured in 2024. Rasmus Hojlund is still out and Jadon Sancho has gone to Chelsea, so Marcus Rashford will likely keep his place despite his poor form, with Alejandro Garnacho perhaps getting the nod ahead of Amad Diallo.
