Until the opening kickoff of the season for the Patriots, we’ll be counting down each day by looking back at those who have worn each specific jersey number.
Since 1960, six players have worn No. 12 in New England, and with 12 days until their first game of the year, here’s a look at everyone who’s worn the number for the team:
QB Tom Brady: 2000-19
- Appeared in 285 games for New England over 20 seasons, completing 63.8% of his passes for 74,571 yards, 541 touchdowns and 179 interceptions
- Won six Super Bowls and three NFL MVPs and made 14 Pro Bowls and three first-team All-Pros with the Patriots
- Also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (won a Super Bowl and made a Pro Bowl)
- No. 12 was retired for him in 2024
QB Tom Ramsey: 1986-88
- Appeared in 21 games for New England over three seasons, completing 51.2% of his passes for 1,005 yards, six touchdowns and nine interceptions
- Also played for the Indianapolis Colts
QB Matt Cavanaugh: 1979-82
- Appeared in 52 games for New England over four seasons, completing 53.5% of his passes for 3,018 yards, 19 touchdowns and 23 interceptions
- Also played for the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers (won a Super Bowl) and New York Giants (won a Super Bowl)
K Mike Walker: 1972
- Appeared in eight games for New England in one season, making two of his eight field goal attempts
QB/P Eddie Wilson: 1965
- Appeared in 14 games for Boston in one season, completing 43.5% of his passes for 257 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions and averaged 32.3 yards per punt
- Also played for the Dallas Texans and Kansas City Chiefs
QB Don Allard: 1962
- Appeared in four games for Boston
- Also played for the New York Titans
