Legendary South Korean rapper and singer-songwriter PSY concluded his 2024 “Summer Swag” concert series at Suwon World Cup Stadium on August 25. During his latest performance, he gave a shoutout to BTS‘s Suga.
Suga has been in a DUI-related controversy after being caught driving an electric scooter on a sidewalk while drunk on August 6. The police reportedly found him after falling in front of Nine One Hannam, a luxury complex in Hannam-dong. The police detected alcohol on him and brought him to the nearest station, discovering a 0.227% alcohol level in his bloodstream.
On August 23, he appeared at the Yongsan Police Station for questioning. Following this, Suga posted a handwritten apology, expressing his remorse over the incident.
Due to this incident, I have severely damaged the precious memories I have made with the BTS members and the fans, and have hurt BTS’s name. I feel very sorry and am in pain for causing harm to the BTS members and the team, to the point I cannot express fully. I am sorry to the members who have always trusted me, because they are having a hard time because of me. And I know how disappointed the fans who have supported me must feel.
I just feel so sorry to the fans who have always given me so much love… I know that it will be difficult to heal the wounds and repair the disappointment my fans feel with my words, so I am regretting my actions and will reflect on them with a heavy heart every day. Once again, I sincerely apologize to the fans who were hurt by my actions.

On August 25, PSY performed the last show of his 2024 “Summer Swag” concert series. Before performing his hit track “That That,” which was produced and featured Suga, PSY gave a shoutout to the BTS member. PSY told the audience in Korean, “I’m incredibly thankful to Suga for creating and singing this song with me,” which was met by an eruption of cheers at the mention of Suga’s name.
@gibbynorge He is getting bad press due to simply thanking and mentioning Yoongi. That’s how risky it is for other celebs to speak up. That’s why appreciate those who are brave enough to show support publicly but don’t blame if other’s can’t.#방탄소년단 #suga #슈가 #yoongi #bts_official_bighit
