Miu Sakamoto, the daughter of the legendary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, has come out strongly in support of BTS’s Suga.
Suga is currently embroiled in a DUI-related controversy after being caught driving an electric scooter on the pavement while drunk on August 6. He was reported to have been found by the police after falling in front of Nine One Hannam, a luxury complex in Hannam-dong. The police detected alcohol on him and brought him to the nearest station. They discovered a 0.227% alcohol level in his bloodstream.
On August 23, he appeared at the Yongsan Police Station for questioning and faced a huge media lineup, much to the dismay of fans. Following this, Suga posted a handwritten apology, expressing his remorse over the incident.
Due to this incident, I have severely damaged the precious memories I have made with the BTS members and the fans, and have hurt BTS’s name. I feel very sorry and am in pain for causing harm to the BTS members and the team, to the point I cannot express fully. I am sorry to the members who have always trusted me, because they are having a hard time because of me. And I know how disappointed the fans who have supported me must feel.
I just feel so sorry to the fans who have always given me so much love… I know that it will be difficult to heal the wounds and repair the disappointment my fans feel with my words, so I am regretting my actions and will reflect on them with a heavy heart every day. Once again, I sincerely apologize to the fans who were hurt by my actions.

Shortly after the apology letter was posted, Miu Sakamoto posted a Tweet expressing concern for the BTS member’s mental well-being. She also showed her strong support for the rapper by using the “#WeLoveYouYoongi” hashtag, which was started by some ARMYs as a way to show Suga their support.
This is, however, not the first time Miu Sakomoto has shown her affection for Suga. After her father, Ryuichi Sakamoto, passed away, she confessed in an interview that his collaboration with Suga on the track “Snooze” had been her source of comfort amidst mourning. She also supported Suga during his solo world tour by showing up for two concerts in Japan and Thailand.
