If you’re going to spend hours of your life watching a K-Drama, the series had better be worth it, right? On Reddit, viewers were asked to name the K-Dramas that they regretted watching in August until the last episode. Here are 5 of them.
1. Miss Night and Day
JTBC‘s Miss Night and Day (also known as She’s Different from Night to Day) stars Lee Jung Eun (Parasite), Apink‘s Jung Eunji, and Choi Jin Hyuk (The Heirs, Tunnel). It follows a 20-something-year-old woman who is struggling to find a decent job. One day, she wakes up in the body of a woman in her fifties. She turns this bizarre older-by-day, younger-by-night transformation into an opportunity–but her double life gets complicated.
The premise is promising, but some viewers were disappointed by the lukewarm chemistry between the female lead and male leads, writing that undermined the characters’ potential, and a mystery that became more disjointed as the show went on.
2. Hierarchy
Hierarchy, one of this summer’s most anticipated K-Dramas, is set at an elite high school that only the top 0.01% of all students can attend. It promised viewers vicious rivalries, NSFW moments, and chilling secrets that would keep them on the edge of their seats.
Since airing, the show has received negative reviews from viewers, who criticized everything from Hierarchy‘s so-called generic plot to the cast’s acting.
3. Red Swan
Red Swan follows a professional golfer who dreams of having the perfect, upper-class life after having grown up in poverty. She attracts the attention of the wealthy heir to the Hwang Group and agrees to marry him, but his extramarital affair changes everything. After getting caught in a gunfight, she begins to fall for the Hwang Group bodyguard who saved her life…but can she trust him?
Red Swan‘s ending was a letdown, full of plot holes and unanswered questions, according to some viewers. While the bodyguard (Rain) received praise for his acting, some viewers felt that the script prevented him from reaching his potential.
4. Serendipity’s Embrace
In this K-Drama, an animation production director who is reluctant to open her heart again due to past experiences unexpectedly reunites with her first love, who now works as a financial planner.
Despite its all-star cast, the series has received negative reviews and criticism from viewers who were bored by the plot.
5. Bad Memory Eraser
After a former tennis player suffers a life-changing injury, he discovers a memory eraser, a device that can erase painful memories. After using it on himself, he regains all the self-confidence he lost after his injury. The MBN series explores the consequences that come with rewriting the past and manipulating memories, especially when love is involved.
Though some viewers praised the series’ storytelling and portrayal of mental health issues, others found the show’s editing style distracting or had trouble rooting for the female lead.
