BTS‘s Suga is currently under investigation for a drunk driving incident. According to multiple Korean news reports, he was found lying on the ground in Hannam-dong. Police nearby, who detected the smell of alcohol, came to his aid.
When the story broke out on August 7, 2024, JTBC was the first to release alleged CCTV footage of the incident.
A week later on August 14, DongA Ilbo claimed JTBC’s footage was not that of Suga’s incident and released the alleged correct footage.

As a result, the public demanded an apology from JTBC for the false information.
JTBC Engulfed In Scandal As Fake CCTV Footage Continues To Fuel BTS Suga Backlash
On August 15, in their latest nightly news, JTBC covered Suga’s drunk driving incident once more. This time, JTBC made reference to the footage they initially released and admitted to it being incorrect.
JTBC published a CCTV footage of a scooter cruising down the main road opposite Nine One Hannam that was from a similar time as when the police found Suga, on the next day.
However, after the police investigated the routes and such, it was confirmed that it was not Suga operating the vehicle in the said video.

There has been much debate about his vehicle thanks to the confusion due to the different CCTV footages released in the press. According to the latest statement from the police, Suga was riding a foldable electric scooter from Brand E. For personal mobility vehicles to be governed by traffic laws applied to that of electric scooters, they have to have a limit of 25kmph. A police stated to the press that Suga’s vehicle has a limit of 30kmph, resulting his case to fall under that of traffic laws applicant to motorized bikes.
