The Las Vegas Raiders wrapped up their 10th practice of training camp on Tuesday, and the fifth practice in pads. The Raiders are set to begin the 2024 preseason this weekend as they travel to Minneapolis to face the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday, August 10th.
Tuesday’s practice wasn’t the most eventful, but there are still some key takeaways from it to talk about, including an update on the quarterback competition and fantastic performances from a few wide receivers and cornerbacks.
We go over that and more in our latest edition of takeaways from Raiders training camp based on beat writer’s observations.
Raiders training camp takeaways
Who didn’t practice?
Offensive linemen Jackson Powers-Johnson and Kolton Miller remain on the PUP list, while wide receivers Keelan Doss, Davante Adams, Tulu Griffin, and Jeff Foreman, linebacker Tommy Eichenberg, and tight end Zach Gentry didn’t practice.

Adams has missed the last few practices due to the birth of his child.
Uninspiring QB update
Every practice is the same story for the Raiders’ quarterbacks, and Tuesday was no different. Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew continue to struggle against Las Vegas’ tenacious defense, as both signal-callers tossed interceptions, with O’Connell turning the ball over twice.
The Raiders QB struggles continued Tuesday. O’Connell was especially hesitant and not seeing the field well at all.

Antonio Pierce has yet to name a starter for the preseason opener against Minnesota. With O’Connell and Minshew’s underwhelming training camp, the decision will be difficult for the first-year head coach.
Jack Jones and Tre’von Moehrig impress
The Raiders’ secondary has been dominant all training camp, and it continued on Tuesday.
According to Levi Edwards of Raiders.com, veteran cornerback Jack Jones pulled down two interceptions and had multiple pass breakups during team drills.

Safety Tre’Von Moehrig also snagged an interception off O’Connell during team drills.
As team period came to an end, Tre’von Moehrig secured another interception for the defense, coming up to jump a route in the middle of the field. #Raiders

The 25-year-old is entering a contract season and will look to build off a breakout 2023 campaign.
Rookie cornerback stands out
Seventh-round rookie M.J. Devonshire has had a quiet camp thus far but had a fantastic practice on Tuesday.
According to Levi Damien of Raiders Wire, Devonshire made a couple of nice plays during team drills, including a near-interception of O’Connell and two tackles for loss on DJ Turner and Harrison Bryant. The former Pitt standout also made a nice play during 1-on-1 drills, knocking a deep ball away from Turner.
Devonshire is expected to be a pivotal depth piece and special teamer for Las Vegas in his rookie campaign. He was recently listed as the backup slot corner on Las Vegas’ first unofficial depth chart.
