We’re currently in the midst of the 2024 Paris Olympics, and there’s no better display of talented athletes in the world. However, some of the behind-the-scenes moments are receiving scrutiny for careless mistakes. Some of the errors have unfortunately slighted South Korea in various ways.
TikToker @thebryanjun shared some of the issues that have taken place so fat. While showing the medal tally for the first day, China’s flag was placed next to Korea — despite China being only a few spots away on the list!
A few days later, Korea was once again assigned the wrong flag. This time, it belonged to South Africa.
The official Olympics Instagram account also misspelled a gold medalists name: Oh Sang Uk was incorrectly written as “Oh Sang Ku.”
One of the most viral mistakes was when South Korea was introduced as North Korea during the opening ceremony.
However, the mistakes extend beyond the ones mentioned. On Instagram, the official account posted photos of the teams during the opening ceremony, such as the one below.
The photo of Korea was criticized for focusing on the crowd, not the team. Additionally, the flag was barely visible.
