A post criticizing IVE Leeseo‘s poor Korean spelling has gone viral on an online community, with over 200,000 views. The post included a couple of instances where Leeseo has made spelling errors for simple words in her native language, Korean. In South Korea, spelling is incredibly important due to the simple Hangul system, where a minor error can change the entire meaning or tense of a word. Recently, many have named poor spelling, or “mat-choom-beob,” as one of the greatest turn-offs when dealing with people.
Her errors are actually fairly common amongst those with inaccurate spelling. These include “getting better” (“nat“) vs. “low” (“naj“), and “what should I do” (“eotteokhae”) vs “how should I do” (“eotteohke”).
Some other mistakes she made included the spelling for “a long time,” “chants,” and “later.” Some netizens were highly critical of her mistakes, pointing out that she debuted too early to have gotten her basic studies down. On the other hand, some criticized the OP for being too critical of Leeseo, and defended her saying that she edits her posts after realizing her mistakes.
- Then, you should also fix your superficial and pathetic attention-seeking life, for purposely looking for her mistakes to upload them. I bet you’re not good at studies or anything else either, apart from sneakily seeking attention on Pann.
- I do hope that she studies… Because she debuted when she was such a baby.
- LOL, she’s going to be a senior in high school next year… It’s funny to see people defending her.
- It is rather serious. I can’t believe she doesn’t even know such basics like that. Even elementary school graduates would know these…
