As the Tennessee Titans held their first padded practice of training camp on Tuesday, we had what was the first big scuffle, according to beat writers on the ground.
The fight broke out when Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons and 2024 first-round pick and left tackle JC Latham got locked up during one rep. It led to a scrum that saw punches thrown between offensive lineman Leroy Watson and outside linebacker Arden Key.
Here’s more details on the tussle from ESPN’s Turron Davenport and Jim Wyatt of TennesseeTitans.com. Wyatt noted that head coach Brian Callahan was none-too-happy about the situation
“First confrontation of full pads day,” Davenport wrote. “Jeffery Simmons and JC Latham locked up for a few minutes after a snap. Next rep Simmons bull rushed Peter Skoronski to the ground and Tyjae Spears ran by the pile. Arden Key and Leroy Watson threw a couple of punches in a small scrum.”
“Pretty good scuffle at Titans camp,” Wyatt wrote. “Jeffery Simmons in middle of it on back-to-back plays. JC Latham not backing down. Too many others to name in middle of it, but saw Mason Kinsey thrown to ground.
“Saw HC Brian Callahan pissed off for first time.”
Fireworks at #Titans camp.

It feels like a fight could break out after every play here during #Titans 11 on 11. It’s spicy

Hopefully cooler heads will prevail in the wake of the fight and this doesn’t lead to problems off the field. Chances the issue won’t, as training camp fights are very normal.
