With Enzo Maresca coming on board this summer, the former Leicester City boss has injected new ideas into Chelsea’s tactical approach. A major emphasis has been placed on building play from the back, making the acquisition of a goalkeeper adept with his feet a top priority if he isn’t sold on the current roster.
Last season, the Blues had Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez vying for the starting spot, while Kepa Arrizabalaga was loaned out to Real Madrid. Evidently not convinced with their current goalkeeping options, the Pensioners has now made their move for a certain Villarreal shot-stopper.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have made an initial approach to Villarreal for Filip Jorgensen, but the talks are in the early stages as things stand.

The Italian reporter also states that Jorgensen is eager on a move to Stamford Bridge, but he is not the only option on Chelsea’s short list, with Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen also of great interest after spending time working under Maresca last term.
As for Jorgensen, he doesn’t boast great deal of top-level experience, with the 22-year-old only becoming a No. 1 for La Liga side Villarreal last season, making 37 appearances across all competitions as they narrowly missed out on securing European football.
