Jake Paul may be gambling away one of the biggest fights of his career in Mike Tyson when he faces Mike Perry on July 20. The fight in Tampa airs on DAZN worldwide.
Paul was supposed to fight Tyson this summer before the latter suffered an ulcer flare-up. The YouTuber, 9-1 in the boxing ring, competes against a former MMA fighter for the sixth time (he beat Tyron Woodley twice). On a three-fight win streak, Paul has six wins via knockout.
Perry was 14-8 in MMA, his last fight came in 2021 with the UFC before transitioning to bare-knuckle boxing. Named the new “King of Violence” following a win against Eddie Alvarez in bare-knuckle action, he is 5-0 without gloves and has won three straight contests via TKO. This is Perry’s second pro boxing fight and his first since 2015.
With a Tyson fight now in September, Paul has a lot to lose. “The Problem Child” believes the fight is still necessary for his growth.

“A lot of people think I’m crazy for pivoting to this — why Mike Perry, why now, why take the risk? You could lose the biggest payday of your life against Mike Tyson if you lose to Mike Perry, who is a violent killer, a bare-knuckle, undefeated legend over there. He takes punches like they’re nothing — he’s fast, athletic, he hits hard, he’s a brawler, and I can’t take that lightly. This whole thing is a risk, I’m focused on July 20, I’m focused on Mike Perry and being in that mindset will lead me to victory,” Paul told DAZN.
“I need the experience, I need to stay active. I fear no man, I’m ready anytime, any place, anyone, and I truly back that up with my action, it’s not just something I say. I’m here to become world champion. I’ve done everything else I wanted to do in boxing — I’ve exceeded my expectations, so that’s my last goal. I will be the cruiserweight world champion.”
Also on the card will be unified featherweight champion Amanda Serrano facing Stevie Morgan in a super lightweight fight, while Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. returns to action.
The Sporting News will provide full results and highlights from Paul vs. Perry.
