Award-winning Hong Kong veteran actor, singer-songwriter, and film producer Andy Lau is known for many films. He was “named the ‘Fourth Tiger’ among the Five Tiger Generals of TVB in the 1980s as well as one of the Four Heavenly Kings in the 1990s.”
Unfortunately, he faced a life-threatening experience recently. Andy Lau nearly experienced a horrible four-meter-high fall during his latest concert in Shanghai, China.
On July 5, 2024, Andy Lau kicked off his Today… Is The Day tour at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China. The veteran entertainer performed 30+ of his hit songs for over two-and-a-half hours!

While performing his 2002 hit song “Practice,” Andy Lau suffered a slip, reportedly sliding on his knee towards the edge of an unprotected elevated platform. Half of Andy Lau’s body dangerously hung over the edge as the platform was four meters (around 13 feet) above the ground.

Andy Lau is one of my favourite Hong Kong stars. During a recent show, he narrowly escaped a serious accident. 😱
Be safe, Andy Lau, don’t forget that you have already been 62 years old and are not young anymore.

Andy Lau survived the scary situation, avoiding any substantial injuries. Still, photos and videos circulated, sparking concerns due to similarities to a previous tragedy. In 1993, Beyond‘s Wong Ka Kui fell from a 2.7-metre-tall (8.85-foot) stage while recording the Tokyo Fuji Television game show. He didn’t survive the fall.

Andy Lau took to Instagram the next day to address the frightening accident. In a post, he apologized to his concerned fans, explaining, “I’m sorry I performed a dangerous move last night. I did not expect it to be so slippery.”
High-flying stunts, heart-stopping thrills, and a quick ‘Sorry, didn’t mean to scare you!’ for every stumble
— Andy Lau
This is not the first time Andy Lau had a scare. In 2017, a pelvic injury from a commercial shoot forced him into a six-month hiatus. Fans just hope that he takes care of himself.
