HYBE announced on July 1 that it had published the 2023 Sustainability Report, which contains the company-wide efforts to create a sustainable management system.
The report stated three detailed sustainability management goals.
The three goals included the creation of ideas that will enhance the lifestyle of fans, creating the future of the entertainment industry with the community, and becoming the governance that is the standard for the entertainment industry.
In the section for enriching the fans’ lifestyle, they focused on 1.) expanding the Weverse performance live streaming to provide a broader range of viewing, 2.) using sustainable materials for albums to help the recycling rate, 3.) recycling banners from concerts to create upcycled products.
To create a future for the industry with the community, sustainability-related content was included in the partner company evaluation criteria. They hope this will increase the level of sustainable management for the industrial ecosystem.
The four main sustainability management issues HYBE will focus on include eco-friendly production and service, protection of personal information, improvement of customer (fan) experience, and ethical management and compliance.
2023 was a year to create a sustainable management system to be used internally throughout the company. HYBE will continue to strive to practice sustainable management the HYBE-way.

However, Korean netizens were baffled at the company’s goals considering their past history.
- “Ethics?…Fan..?”
- “You guys are the biggest problem.”
- “lolol so f*cking funny.”
- “Talking nonsense.”
- “So you’re saying you’re going to pull some more money! Ok now f*ck off!”
- “Are they going to start the photo cards that melt in water?”
- “Is this black comedy?”
- “What do these ahjussi’s that close their ears to the consumers know anyway.”
- “So funny.”
- “They say they are taking care of the fans but they raise the prices for soundcheck and always post about paid registration for Weverse. Because of that, now all the artists, and not just HYBE artists, have to go through Weverse first in order to even buy rickets. This is all done by you guys.”
- “ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ”
- “I’ll give them the comedy award of the year.”
- “They probably just thought about how to take more of the fans’ money. When did you guys think about this?
- “Such liars. Because of HYBE, my K-Pop stanning environment has been ruined.”
- “Puahahahaha.”
What are your thoughts on this?
